Black Friday
From Alan: Yesterday, Friday December 4, at around 2pm, Dr. Jacob did an ultrasound on Jeannette and decided to remove the fluid that has accumulated in her right lung. She said it would make her feel better and make her more comfortable on the long flight home. If you recall, Dr. Jacob had removed 1.2 liters of fluid from Jeannette's lung the day after we arrived on November 17. Via a small tube inserted between her ribs in her back, she removed 1/2 liter of water. Jeannette had a very bad reaction - lots of pain. She was given pain medication, but that caused her to be nauseous and to start vomiting. Finally she fell into a very restless stupor. I took her home around 7pm and she slept soundly, only waking once for more pain medicine (different than the first one). This morning, she is feeling a little better but she still has pain and is very weak. At the Clinic today, they are only giving her infusions to build back her strength. I am trying to get her to eat. Lately today, our good friend, Bob Chao, is paying a visit, driving here from Munich where he works. He will take us out to a nearby restaurant so Jeannette can get a good meal.

Dear Jeannette,
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better and enjoy Bob's visit. Please say hello to him for us.
Alan, Thank you for taking such of good care of Jeannette. You are the best!
Enjoy the good food and restaurant Bob is taking you two to and please take some pictures.
Bill and Rose will be taking me to the OCA-NJ Ball this evening. I am looking forward to meeting some of Jeannette's friends from other chapters of OCA.
Have a good day.
Frances
I did not go to the ball. It is snowing very hard outside. I didn't want Bill & Rose to go out of their way on such a weather to pick me up. Also, I am afraid to go on a long ride on such a weather. Sorry, I'll have to wait till you come back to NJ to meet your friends from OCA-NJ. I hope they didn't have to pay the hotel for my seat but to keep my whole ticket as a donation. I paid them extra because I am not OCA-NJ member and I mailed out my check one day late.
ReplyDeleteJeannette, I went to the OCA-NJ ball tonight and I missed you very much. In your honor, I danced and danced to ward off Ghangis Khan and his followers. Many people were thinking of you at the dinner and we are all excited you are coming home on Monday. Rest well for your trip home. There was a wet snow tonight-it was pretty-the first snowfall of the winter. Please bundle warm when you get off the plane. Alan, there are no words to describe my thanks for taking such good care of Jeannette- please bring her home to a million hugs awaiting her. Jeannette, keep fighting-you made it through your stay in Germany-you took on Ghanghis Khan head on and you WON because you NEVER let the cancer define you, what came through loud and clear in your blog is the person I love and admire-a strong, funny, and inspirational human being! See you soon, lots and lots of love, Liz
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling stronger for your flight home. Bundle up! It is cold and snowy here now.
ReplyDeleteI was amazed at your story about the restaurant that is only open 14 days a year. I do believe that there are no coincidences.
Have a good flight and be prepared for some company this week.
Bon Voyage
